  • Removing the gym floor

  • Getting into the spirit
    Students from the Highland high school help to cheer on the football team by having a theme for each home game. Senior Chelsey Lampe said, “We decided to do themes every home game because we wanted to support the boys in a fun way.”

    Paul A. Krogh, Sr. died June 25, 2015, in Iowa City. Memorial services were held Monday, June 29, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Burial will be held at a later date at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Paul’s memory to Iowa City Hospice.     H. Ernest (Ernie) Lund, 86, of Iowa City, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, in Lantern Park Rehab & Nursing Home, following a short illness. At his request, cremation services will be provided through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with a private ceremony for his family at a later date.     rks permits and first reading approval of the county code of ordinances update, the Washington County supervisors Monday mainly attended to fiscal year end business.
    The permits were for the Marion Avenue Baptist Church and for Fred Witt of Washington, all related to Fourth of July events.

    The eleventh Annual River Junction Tractor Show will be held at Joan Morgan’s home in River Junction Friday, July 10, starting at 5 p.m. Approximately 150 vintage tractors will be on display. The tractor owners will be there to tell about the restoration and other stories about their tractor.

    The Highland baseball team was able to win three games in a row last week, outscoring their opponents by a total of 15 runs, before falling to Louisa-Muscatine by a difference of one run.

    The Highland softball team played a total of six games last week as they get ready to end the regular season.
    The girls were host to IMS Tuesday, June 23, which ended in a 9-1 victory for the Huskies. Katie Springer struck out eight in the game and walked one while only allowing three hits.
